Edged in stone were promises defiled by time
Laws of nature we left behind
Claims of truth that rang through the dark
Arrows of justice that rarely hit their mark
As the waves crash on this shore
They break as sudden currents invade their core
Whispers of lies dance on the salty taste of reality
The azure blue devoid of a circle, its beauty empty
Carried on the hard shell of pain they hope for more
Yet life never promises either-or
The poor have their hands cut for reaching
The rich have their tongues gilded for better speaking
The tired have been dismissed to the sick
The house of freedom is being sold brick by brick
Justice now homelessly scavenges for scraps thrown by the meek
The flame that used to light his path has grown too weak
Yet stone stands strong to remind us of a golden past
As it stands on the corpses it has amassed
This is your rule
This is your peace
This is your lie
