They were kept in a silent room, where whispers are born
Backs against the wall, their vocal chords are torn
Their eyes never fully open, their hearts remain closed
Their mouths are open without words, their minds are dozed
Their nails have scratched marks into stone
Forsaken, abandoned, they are all alone
Locked behind a cement door, decorating 13 locks
Light is a friend that refuses to go into the box
Silence is the only one decked in a silver lined cape
With a quiet demeanor he is unable to break
Some were set free and dissolved into nothing
Or so the rumors say the truth is still hiding
Yet it’s not his name that strikes fear
They fear the one who should never come near
Each one in the room has their own reason
But all have agreed to never see him
He’s unable to handle it, he simply won’t agree
Its better if he didn’t know, he will get mad at me
It’s my problem and not his, if I don’t tell it never occurred
I’m afraid of his reaction so I won’t say a word
These lines have been tattooed on their tongue
So their silence will not come undone
Pacing in a dark room avoiding eye contact
For these captive few, the world is black
Afraid to be seen, afraid to be recognized
Tears fall often, their very being is despised
Their tears fall on blood covered rock
The floor littered with broken glass they walk on socks
Yet not a scream is dropped not a word is said
Cause silence was the only rule they ever had
More and more enter, few are allowed to leave
Some get new clothing, meant purely to deceive
But they all gaze at nothing holding pain in their chest
Secretly hoping for the day that they can rest
I’m unable to look inside yet the box I see
Everyone has valid reasons to keep secrets from me
