Through the leaves

Concrete to his back a field lined with trees to his front

The wind in his face and peace in his heart

The leaves dance on the murmuring kisses the breeze provides

Pessimistic eyes scour the sky as if on a hunt

Searching for a flaw that will allow him to tear it all apart

But if there were one, oh how well it hides

The grass tickles his feet as the sun embraces his soul

The air elegantly fills his lungs with small particles of hope

The bed he managed to escape from has lost its appeal

Pain and misery step off the stage as they fulfilled their role

It’s peace and serenity’s turn, which will allow him to cope

The healing powers of nature are real

Look through the leaves to see the sun smile at you

Breathe in the freshness that made its way through

Run your fingers across the bark and see the rough edges of life

Find the dark, white, gold and silver linings on the clouds of strive

Paint your pain on the azure canvas that’s framed by the trees

See your life reflected in the beads of water of rain passed

Clinging to each leaf as a baby would its parent

This is the power of life
