Braverte lets go of Demo’s hand as he starts talking.
“Yes, the Book Keeper. She will have answers for you that I can’t give you. And there is a good chance she knows the way for you to get stronger.”
Demo’s eyes light up at the news, and his voice is filled with excitement.
“Where is she?”
Braverte slightly lifts his shoulders and tilts his head as he answers.
“I don’t know. The last I heard of her, she was on a planet called Ufumu. She has expensive taste, so she only hangs out with powerful people. Go there, find the most powerful person you can, and ask them her whereabouts.”
MyTy grinds his teeth and clenches his fists.
“Demo, I’ll be going with you for a bit.”
Demo looks at MyTy, and before he can ask why, Cleus also speaks up.
“I will join you as well.”
Ten and Demo look at each other and smile. Braverte, however, interrupts the moment.
“Now that that has been settled, I need all of you to go. I have it on very good authority that someone is coming to claim these bounties, and I wouldn’t want you all to die that quickly.”
Ten looks at Braverte with concern.
“What about you and Pulmo?”
Braverte smiles at Ten with a reassuring look.
“Oh, we will be fine. I would have preferred to stay here, but with him coming, we need some space to talk things out.”
MyTy feels compelled to ask,
“Is he really that strong?”
Braverte looks up as if he is thinking about the best answer before he speaks.
“Let’s see. He now holds the position I used to have in the Dark List, so he should at least be as strong as a younger me. If we fought here, this whole place would be destroyed afterward. And I’m sure he wouldn’t want that either. It would be rude to destroy people’s property when they had nothing to do with it.”
Demo looks back at Dewina.
“What are you going to do, Dewina?”
Dewina opens his eyes and looks at Demo with rage and contempt, but he still answers.
“I will stay in your shadow. It’s the perfect training ground for some reason.”
Demo looks down at his shadow in confusion. Braverte looks up at the sky, as if noticing something—or someone—forcing their way in.
“All of you, go to the roof now and leave. Demo, take this with you.”
Braverte flips a coin toward Demo. Demo catches it and looks at it. Braverte explains:
“Break this coin if you’re in a situation that you can’t resolve on your own. I can only give you this once, so use it only in the most dire of situations.”
Demo looks at the coin, then back up, asking for a bit more clarification.
“What does it do?”
Braverte smiles as he answers.
“You summon me.”
Demo’s eyes widen in surprise, and he grins from ear to ear. A spaceship can be seen descending from the sky to where Demo and the others are. Braverte looks out the window and shouts once more,
“Go. Find the Book Keeper. I’ll keep him busy.”
Dewina jumps into Demo’s shadow, after which Demo and the others start running. Pulmo watches the group run past her. She nods at them and bids farewell with her words:
“Good luck to you all.”
Braverte and Pulmo then make their way outside of the building and walk toward the spaceship, which has landed. Noir walks out of the spaceship and sees Braverte and Pulmo. Noir looks up and notices that another spaceship is leaving. Braverte wants to bring Noir’s attention back to him.
“Thank you for letting me know they had bounties, and for the courtesy of being your first target.”
Noir looks back at Braverte as he answers.
“You’re welcome. Going after the weak first is a sign of disrespect to strength. To face an opponent, he must be at his strongest. Anything else would be rude.”
Braverte nods in agreement.
“Well then, shall we depart to a place more welcoming to what has to be done?”
Noir nods.
“Do you have a planet in mind?”
Braverte goes into his pocket and brings out a spaceship core.
“How about planet #1512VV?”
Noir nods.
“That will do just fine. Will Pulmo be joining us as well?”
Pulmo nods. Noir turns sideways and gestures to the entrance of his spaceship.
“Shall we go?”
Braverte and Pulmo start walking toward Noir’s spaceship.
“Let’s.”
Meanwhile, in Demo’s spaceship, the whole crew is looking down at the planet Hominidae. Ten can’t help but be worried.
“Do you think Braverte and Pulmo will be okay?”
MyTy looks at Ten as he answers.
“That old man and his secretary are a lot stronger than you think. He said Noir is as strong as a young him, not as strong as the current him.”
Ten looks at him, confused.
“In your world, people get stronger as they grow older?”
MyTy smiles at Ten.
“Nope, but monsters do.”
